We are moving on to a new topic in math this week. The four lessons we will cover include
It will be a lot to cover but we are confident that student will find patterns in these skill quickly and be successful as we move through the next week. Here is a small video about what we are doing in class on Monday. This is a great channel on which you can find help with many of our lessons from class.

We've spent this last week we exploring meters, grams, and liters. This week we will be finishing up this unit and taking a math test. Below is an example of what will be on the test.
Convert: 3 km= ______m 13 kg= __________g 7 L=______________ml 5 km 345 m=_________m 2 kg 47 g=___________g 96 L 345 ml=_____________ml Solve: 26 kg 23 g - 16 kg 15 g = grams 90 L 2 ml + 3,333 ml = L ml Joe is training for a marathon, use tape diagrams, numbers and words to explain each answer below Each day Joe runs on the treadmill for 4 km and runs outside for 5,000 m. In all how many meters does Joe run each day? Since Joe started training, he has been drinking more water. On Saturday he drank 3 liters 433 ml of water. On Sunday he drank some more. If Joe drank a total of 5 liters 673 ml of water on Saturday and Sunday how much did he drink on Sunday? We will be finishing up our unit on place value, rounding, addition and subtraction this week.
Students have been working really hard these last few weeks, setting up a strong understanding of place value. We will be taking a math test this coming Wednesday. We are excited to see how our students do. P.S. Here is a sampling of what will be on the test Compare the values of each 8 in the number 838,345. Use a picture, numbers, or words to explain. Compare using >, <, or =. 534 thousands + 4 ten thousands 641,000 4 hundred thousands – 1 ten thousands 30,000 Sacramento, Ca has a population of 742,321 people. Baltimore, VA, has 45,987 more people than Sacramento. Charleston, SD, has 496,804 less people than Baltimore. What is the total population of all three cities? Round to the nearest hundred thousand to check the reasonableness of your answer for the population of Charleston, SD Record each city’s population in numbers, in words, and in expanded form. Compare the population of Sacramento and Charleston using >, <, or =. The last two weeks have been a blast in math. We've explored numbers to a million. Found connections between thousands and hundreds, We've even had a chance to break out our new math manipulative and have some fun with those. It has been a great start to the year.
As we move forward this next few weeks we will be will be rounding, reviewing addition and subtraction. |
