Our Fourth grade has been breaking in our new Chromebooks the last few weeks as we are drafting our business letters to request funds as start-up money for our store. We've begun working on a few prototypes and will continue with that work for a few weeks before we begin mass production of our products.
To help with our store we are asking student and parents for some of the donations. These should be things that you have sitting around the house, please do not go out and purchase any of these items. Once donations have been made if we still have need we will then purchase it with our start up money. This is a list of some donations that we are looking for:
Thank you for all you do to support your children in storyline. Tuesday afternoon we had a special visitor to our school. Our city mayor came by to ask for our students help. He had heard that we were becoming a Leader In Me school and thought that perhaps we could help to raise money for our communities food bank. The students seemed pretty excited about this idea. As a class and grade we were giving the challenge to build a business that would earn money to donate to the food bank. We will be holding a craft fair/grand opening even sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas where the public will be invite to come and purchase our goods.
We have decided that as a fourth grade class we would create out business around Idaho and that we would recycle and re-purpose in our production where possible.
As a class we have made a HUGE list of items that we could make, we are in the process of narrowing it down to a few that we can do really well. To help save on some costs we will be sending home a letter soon asking for donations of thing that you already have. Some of the things that we might need include: yarn, string, newspapers, magazines, plastic bags. I hope you are as excited about this project as we are. Thanks in advance for all you do. Hopefully some of you are checking this website and waiting patiently to find out what we will be doing for Storyline this Fall. Well the time has finally arrived this week will be the big reveal and kick off of our Whole school Storyline. As I said this will be like nothing we've done before, and your help will be greatly appreciated if you have time or skills that will help us. Stay tuned for more information and be sure to talk about it as a family.
This not a spoiler but you should know Storyline will be starting soon and it's going to be like nothing we've ever done before!!
We had an incredible time working with the forest these last few months. We researched plants, animals and habitats. We learned about food chains and webs. We investigated the role that humans play in the forest. We had an amazing challenge of finding how best to use our forest and how to best present that information.
Wow!! It was awesome. Hope you come back in the fall to check out what adventure we will go on next. Just when we were really enjoying our forest it came up for rezoning. Through a series of meetings, brainstorms, and planning. The members for this community came up with some great ideas. If click on the buttons below you can see their presentations. Enjoy.
That's right the Forest! Coniferous forest to be exact. We are all so excited! This week we have already researched and shared about plants in our forest. We have drawn a sketch of what our plan for the frieze is.
Construction Zone in 4th grade this week. Stay tuned for pictures. I'm so excited for our next Storyline!! We will be introducing it on Monday Jan 25th. Stay Tuned!
